Our story

Founded by Lone Mette Munk and Jeannette Loua in 2020, Munk&Loua Design Studio stands at the intersection between passion, creativity and environmental consciousness.

The collaboration of the two designers, began during their studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Architecture and Design. Their deep understanding of design principles, coupled with their desire to make a positive impact, fostered a powerful connection between the two designers.

Munk&Loua Design Studio blossomed from a shared belief that textile design should be an immersive experience, representing a fusion of artistry, functionality, and environmental consciousness. Lone and Jeannette's complementary skills and commitment to their craft have led to the creation of a design studio, characterised by its devotion to colors, ethical practices, and meticulous craftsmanship.

Design principles

Showcasing material transparency: We firmly believe that transparency is the key to meaningful design. We take pride in showcasing the natural beauty and inherent qualities of materials, allowing them to shine through in our creations. Our commitment to this principle drives us to consistently explore new materials, engage in responsible sourcing practices, and collaborate with like-minded partners.

Prioritising aesthetic durability : We believe in the power of design to transcend time and leave a lasting impact. We prioritise creating designs with aesthetic durability, ensuring that our creations not only withstand the test of time but also retain their artistic relevance.

Respecting craft : We have a deep appreciation for the art of textile craftsmanship. We seek to celebrate the diverse range of crafts that exists around the world, through collaboration with artisans and embracing conscious design practices.
